Based in Dunedin, Allia (b. 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, clay, textiles, and illustration. Her practice explores personal identity within broader social and cultural structures, acting as a reflective inquiry into the self. The work is figurative and expressive, with line and colour suggesting landscapes that extend toward the interior.

She graduated with First-Class Honours in Design (Fashion) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2015. During her studies she exhibited in several group exhibitions at First Site Gallery, including Matter at Hand (2014), Peripheral Visions (2015), and Movements (2016). In 2015 she was invited as a guest artist by the National Gallery of Victoria to lead a Drop-by Drawing workshop presented as part of The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk retrospective.

Her background in fashion informs a continued sensitivity to form, materiality, and the body. An influence that continues to shape her visual language across mediums. In 2019, she relocated from Melbourne to Dunedin, where painting returned as a central focus of her practice. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, her process begins with spontaneous marks and painted grounds that allow compositions to emerge intuitively. Photographic references are later introduced to establish figures and subjects, creating a dialogue between instinctive mark-making and representational form.

Her work captures moments of vulnerability, tension, and quiet introspection, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences of connection, identity, and belonging.
